2:49 pm	Speaking of hackneyed critiques of French philosophy, Sokal and Bricmont's Fashionable Nonsense is a fun read, and occasionally even hits home, but by and large they miss the point. For a better, more perspicuous (less hysterical) critique of poststructuralism, I'd recommend Peter Dews' book Logics of Disintegration. (Comment on this)

10:28 am	i have half-articulated thoughts about the validity of intuition; that intuition isn't universal, but it may as well be because it is an early form of reason, an evolutionarily first provisional attempt at reason which humans share with many higher animals, that its contingency upon historicality and acculturation is secondary to its contingency upon the basic skills and proficiencies necessary to having and using a body in a complex environment. i haven't worked this through yet, obviously. but these are provisional thoughts that will guide my future explorations. if you have any suggestions on some reading that will clarify/torpedo/support these ideas, i'd love to hear them.
